| Birth of an Elephant |

Tiger Tops Jungle Lodge held its breath on the night of September 12, 2006 for what can be termed a very rare sight –the birth of a baby elephant! Months of concern and hours of tension turned to smiles of approval and applause quickly spread amongst veteran naturalists, Mahut and staff as the mother elephant HiraKali gave birth to a healthy female calf at 10.10pm. |

 Motherly instinct took over as she cleaned the baby and helped it on its feet. The audience could not helplaughingas the new born tried to get stand up, get its bearing right and suckle at the same time. Shrill trumpeting from the little one reminded everyonepresent of the father – The Wild Romeo!
